On Your Bike - Mountain Biking Christchurch and Beyond

Godley Head is a great place for stunning views and a challenging ride in single track heaven. Between Godley Head and Evans Pass there is plenty of climbing before enjoying the down hill along the Captain Thomas track to Sumner.

GODLEY HEAD TO EVANS PASS (~45 MINUTES)

The track starts at the Godley Head car park and runs along the right hand side of the road heading towards Breeze Col. This section is an easy single track, but it's easy to get distracted by the views!

From Breeze Col you head across the road for a fairly hard climb and short down hill to meet the road again at Livingstone Col. The next section along the Crater Track has more climbing before a rough ride down to Evans Pass.

CAPTAIN THOMAS TRACK (~20 MINUTES) 

The top part of Captain Thomas Track is for walking only, so shoot down the road a short way to where the multi-use section starts. Vairies between a smooth dirt track to being very rocky and rough in places.
